What is the Source, Channel and Campaign in Gather Tracking?
Tracking the source, channel and campaign is how you can begin answering the question " How did you hear about us?" This will provide some insight into where your events business is coming from, allowing your team to focus their marketing efforts.
Source
The source indicates how the guest reached out to you. Did your guest reach out from the Lead Form on your Website or did they give your team a call? Was this inquiry submitted via email? The Source is where your team will input the basics
Note: ' Website' and 'Partner' will auto-populate as the Source if your guest fills out the form on your website or a Gather partner site, respectively.
Campaign
The Campaign field is where you can freeform type the marketing initiative that you want to track. Let's say you’re implementing a Campaign to promote Holiday events, you can freely type out the name of the Campaign in this field. For example, 'Holiday Marketing Blast - Fall 2019'.
Channel
The Channel provides you with more detail about how the Campaign reached the guest. To continue with our 'Holiday Marketing Blast - Fall 2019' example, perhaps you sent an email, posted on social media and sent a direct mailer. The Channel is where you can determine which of these reached your guest!
This will allow you to track this Campaign as a whole within Reports. How successful was this Campaign for you? This is going to help you drill down which Channels provided the most ROI. Did you have more success with this campaign in the Social Media Channel or Email Marketing Channel?
Gather Tip: Not sure how your guest chose to inquire with you? Whether on the phone, in a Message Template or while having a conversation with a walk-in guest, we recommend asking the question 'How did you hear about us?'
