What is the Bounced Message Status?
Hard Bounce
If you see a Hard Bounce for a recipient in your message activity, this means the message sent to them bounced due to the address being deemed permanently invalid. This can be caused for a variety of reasons, including the domain not being active, the particular email address no longer existing or a misspelling in the email address.
To view the Date and Time that a message bounced along with additional information, hover your mouse over the status in the righthand corner of the message within Gather.
Soft Bounce
A Soft Bounce means there was a temporary problem with the receiving server accepting the email. Several attempts will be made to send a message if we get an error when attempting delivery.
Note: A message with a Soft Bounce may eventually deliver successfully. If so, you will see both the Bounced and Delivered Statuses on the message as seen below.
Bounce Notification
For either of the above Bounce types, Gather will notify the sender with a Bounce Notification.
Note: You may receive a Bounce Notification for a message which is ultimately delivered successfully after a Soft Bounce.
